For students

Norad's Programme for Master Studies (NOMA) aims to promote development in the South by helping to develop and establish Master Programmes. The overall aim is to educate new and existing to serve the public and private sectors in the south, as well as NGOs.

Admission requirements vary, but in general only candidates from eligible countries, who are employed in a relevant sector and receive a leave of absence from their employer, may apply for a NOMA scholarship. Please contact the institutions in questions for specific admission requirements.

NOMA differs from the Norad Fellowship Programme, which it replaces, in that the bulk of activities are located to Higher Education Institutions in the South. This transfer of responsibility encompasses student related matters, including applications. Prospective and existing NOMA students are encouraged to contact the relevant institution(s) directly.

The programme suports studies in the following academic fields:

  • Education
  • Environment
  • Economic development and trade
  • Peace and conflict resolution
  • Gender
  • Good governance
  • Democratic development
  • Human rights and migration
  • Health
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Oil and energy

NB. Please note that SIU operates on the institutional level only and does not handle direct student contact. Scholarships are granted by the participant institutions. These web pages are provided solely for your convenience.
